Chinese manufacturer Ehang has created not just a huge drone, but a real taxi of the future.
Ehang 184 is completely autonomous aircraft. Its weight is 200 kg, it is equipped with 8 motors and has 8 propellers, which are placed on the four emerging “hands”.
According to the manufacturer, the world’s first drone taxi can reach speed up to 100 km/h, and the flight time is 23 minutes. The aircraft will show these results even with a cargo weighing up to 100 kilograms.
Especially for the hand luggage manufacturer has created a small luggage compartment separate from the passenger’s compartment, which must accommodate the passenger himself before the flight.
There is nothing that in any way would look like steering inside this taxi. There is only 12-inch display where it is necessary to choose a destination.
Once a passenger has chosen the destination, the drone independently creates the optimum route, and starts flying. The passenger will just enjoy the views and high speed internet.
When the drone was successfully tested, Ehang company decided that the machines have a future.
Developers are sure that their creation will be used for commercial traffic, namely as a taxi for people or for small loads.
The aircraft will possibly appear on sale later this year. It will cost 200 to 300 thousand dollars.
There is only one question – if it is allowed the use of drone-taxies in the countries to which the manufacturer is going to sell the cars. But it will be clear soon…
