Door to Hell, Turkmenistan. This horrific burning crater stretches approximately 60 meters in diameter and 20 m deep. Local residents called this place “the door to hell”. One day, geologists accidentally found a cave with huge natural gas reserves. In order to avoid the harmful effects of the gas on people and animals, they decided to burn it. According to their calculations, the fire had to go out a few days later, however, it is already burning for 45 years.
