10. Cuba – Fulgencio Batista
He was the President from 1940 to 1944, later, as a result of the coup from 1952 to 1959. The brutal massacre of the opposition has led to strikes among people. He was overthrown during the Cuban Revolution January 1, 1959 and disappeared in Portugal.
9. Iran – Mohammad Reza Pahlavi
The thirty-fifth and at the same time, the last Shah of Iran. He ruled the country from 1941 to 1979. The establishment of an authoritarian regime ultimately led to the Islamic revolution in 1979. 11/02/1979 the Shah fled to Cairo. A year after the expulsion he died.
8. CAR – Jean-Bedel Bokassa
1966 to 1976 was the President, and from 1976 to 1979 – the emperor of the Central African Empire, virtually dictator. Brutal tortures, arrests, shooting of school children protesting against the uniform and finally cannibalism have forced France to overthrow the monarch from the throne. He escaped to France, and later returned to his homeland, where he was convicted.
7. Philippines – Ferdinand Marcos
Was the President from 1965 to 1986. The desire for absolute power manifested intolerance of dissent. Questionable victory (intimidation, vote buying, and so on) on the next elections has led to a military coup in the country. Marcos was forced to flee. After a serious illness he died three years later in Hawaii.
6. Haiti – Jean-Claude Duvalier
He inherited the post from his father at age 19 and was the youngest president in the world. Due to the policy of intimidation and violence of Jr. Duvalier, in Haiti began mass demonstrations. 07/02/1986 Duvalier left the country with his family, but was able to return after repentance in 2011.
5. Peru – Alberto Fujimori
Is probably one of the most brutal rulers. Violation of human rights is little thing, compared to the “death squads”, which he created to deal with the objectionable. During the election campaign there were exposed the acts Fujimori, after which he fled to Japan.
4. Kyrgyzstan – Askar Akayev
He has held the post of president of Kyrgyzstan from 1991 to 2005. He was deposed from his post as a result of the “Tulip Revolution” in 2005, one of the reasons which led to an incredible enrichment of Akaev’s family and his entourage. The last straw was the falsification of the next presidential election. 05.04.2005 he fled the country.
3. Kyrgyzstan – Kurmanbek Bakiyev
He led the country from 2005 to 2010. He was deposed by the opposition as a result of mass protests against the abuse of power. April 15, 2010 he fled to Belarus, where he stays till now.
2. Tunisia – Zine El Abidine Ben Ali
He was the President of Tunisia in 1987 – 2011. The deterioration of the economic situation and terrible corruption led to popular protests, which resulted that Ben Ali was forced to flee the country. He disappeared in Saudi Arabia with a very decent luggage (rumored) – 1.5 tons of gold.
1. Ukraine – Viktor Yanukovych – 22.02.2014
The most recent case of the fugitive president. He left the country after the sniper shooting of protesters in the so-called Evromaydane in Kiev, where were killed more than 100 people. Currently, he is hiding in Russia, like most of his team.
