Sons Tegё Bridge, Seoul, South Korea, 1994
October 21, 1994 in Seoul, collapsed part of the bridge, where had recently been carried out repairs. A part of the bridge with buses and cars collapsed into the river from the 20-meter height. The tragedy killed 32 people, most of them were children.
Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles, 2005
Unique Walt Disney Concert Hall became a landmark of LA. The design of the building was made by the renowned architect Frank Gehry and according to his plan the outer buildings walls were covered with steel panels. However, in 2005 the builders were forced to make changes to the facade of the building, as the metal has become a powerful reflector of sunlight and all the inhabitants of the nearby houses suffered from excessively high temperatures.

The engineers, who designed the playground, paid too much attention to the futuristic design and completely forgot to think about the materials. Most of the parts were made of pure steel, which are heated to 50 degrees in summer.
Banqiao Dam, Henan Province, Chinese People’s Republic, 1975
Banqiao is a groundwater dam, built in 1952 to protect from flooding. Gross errors that were made during the construction of the dam led to cracks. Subsequently, the dam could not stand the pressure of a tropical typhoon “Nina” and the flooding led to 26 000 deaths.
Hotel Hyatt Regency, Kansas City, Missouri, 1981
July 17, 1981 during a party in the atrium of the hotel, two hanging galleries located one above another collapsed. The tragedy took away the lives of 114 people, 216 were seriously injured.
Tunnel Ville-Marie, Montreal, Canada, 2011
Due to outdated design of the tunnel Ville-Marie, a concrete slab has fallen on the road. This slab was part of the concrete structure set to adapt the eyes of drivers more quickly to the darkness in the tunnel. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the accident.

July 9, 1995 gross violations of building codes led to the collapse of one of the largest buildings in South Korea – Sampoong shopping center. Under the rubbles of the building 502 people died, 937 were seriously injured.
The bridge over the Tuo River – Fenghuang, China, 2007
In August 2007, in the Chinese province Canaanites recently built 268-meter bridge fell over the Tuo River. The accident occurred during the dismantling of scaffolding. The accident killed 30 people, 60 – were injured, more than 10 – were missing.

The roof of Kemper Arena consisted of few large-coverings, which were supposed to protect against rain and wind, but the designers have incorrectly calculated the strength of the bolts. In 1979, the roof collapsed. Fortunately, nobody was hurt.

The accident occurred due to the fact that the design of the scheme looked like a house of cards. This tragedy led to the deaths of four people.
