A special name for the Roman Empire. Rome was founded by the brothers Romulus and Remus. Romulus became the first king of Rome. Romulus Augustus became the last ruler of the Western Roman Empire, however, at birth he was given the name of Flavius Romulus Augustus. It so happened that the name of “Romulus” began and ended the history of the greatest of ancient empires.
