Sand dunes Mount Baldy. Mount Baldy – is the highest sand dune in the world, which reaches a height of 37 meters.
This dune is an “alive” tourist attraction because it shifts each year by 2 meters.
It can absorb children: in 2013, it “devoured” a 6-year-old boy, who, fortunately, was rescued.
But according to the laws of physics, holes can’t be formed in the sand dunes, because the sand fills everything.
“Eye of the Sahara” – this is a strange formation of the size of a 30-kilometer wide, located in the desert. It consists of circles of various shades of blue.
For a long time it was thought that this was a crater, but in the structure of the “Sahara’s eye” there is nothing from the meteorite.
Uturunku. This volcano in Bolivia is located in the altitude of 6000 m and the last time has erupted 300 thousand years ago. Satellite data show that the volcano center is filled 10 times faster than other volcanoes.
It is believed that Uturunku is a potential supervolcano that may destroy all life on Earth.
Permian extinction – one of the most mysterious pages of the history of the planet. According to the studies, at the end of the Permian period disappeared 97% of all life on Earth, but the reasons for this is still unknown.
The most plausible theory – the eruption of the Siberian Traps, or the greenhouse effect due to the burning of volcanic eruptions of huge coal deposits.
Simple dipping faults. The faults occur frequently due to the earthquakes. They are different, but we are interested in discharges with a gentle slope less than 30 degrees, which are called dipping.
The fact is that they shouldn’t exist under the laws of physics. Immediately after the formation they would have to turn into steep faults, but this isn’t happening.
Pink Lake Hiller. This is the least studied lake in the world. It was discovered only in 1802 in the Australian desert. The water is very salty, and the reason for the pink color isn’t clear.
There are three possible reasons for this color: the combination of shrimp and halobacteria, Achaia bacteria and algae.
The formation of the Hawaiian Islands is a real mystery. They were probably formed during the eruption of underwater volcanoes.
However, the University of Massachusetts believes that the formation of Hawaii may has occured due to thermal anomaly under water.
No one knows how old is the Grand Canyon. Some researchers believe that it is about 6 million years old old, the others say it is about 70 million years old.
The truth is still far away, because no one can determine the exact time of the formation of Canyon.
Messinian salinity peak – a huge rock of salt, which could be formed as a result of the conversion of the sea into the wilderness.
Other scientists believe that the sea turned into a desert, as it lost the access to the Atlantic Ocean.
Newgrange – is the oldest prehistoric structure in Ireland.
It was built out of wood, clay and sand over 1000 years before the construction of the Egyptian pyramids. The structure is completely waterproof for today.
