The unpleasant truth about the British Empire. In its heyday the British Empire was the largest empire in the history of mankind, and no doubt it has been the world leader. At the peak of its power there lived the fifth part of the world’s population. The British Empire has brought our civilization wonderful discoveries in the field of engineering, medicine and the arts, but don’t forget about the barbaric methods of repressions – concentration camps, tortures, relocation of entire populations, apartheid. It is believed that many of the crimes committed by the British Empire are glossed over and ignored.
