In the early 1990s Trump had serious financial problems that linked to debt servicing liabilities, after construction of a casino “Trump Taj Mahal”. He was able to achieve a debt restructuring through the transfer of a significant share (49-50% ) in his enterprises to creditors. In 1994-1998, he was forced to sell part of his assets – airline Trump Shuttle, and the land on the West Side in New York City.
