Personal Life – Shimon Peres was a widower at the time of his death, having lost his wife Sonja in 2011 at the age of 87. The couple, who had been married for over 60 years, lived apart during the final years of Sonja’s life, as she chose not to move into the presidential residence. They had three children and six grandchildren, who carry on his legacy. Despite his immense public responsibilities, Peres remained deeply connected to his family throughout his life.
